Interviewer: Do you like reading?

Peter: Yes. I enjoy reading quite a bit. I love reading all types of books. I just love, really enjoy a good story because, um, like sometimes when I have time I like to just immerse myself in a new story. You know, somebody’s story. I really enjoy different people’s perspectives, so. . . . People have a story, I like to hear about it. You know, no matter part, no matter what part of the world that story originates from, I like to hear it. Yeah. I really love a good story because I. . . I still like a good book more than movies even because when you have a good book, the book only gives you the words, but the rest of it you have to use your imagination and I think there is no substitute for your imagination. Your imagination is, you know, there’s no, there’s no limit for your imagination.

Interviewer: How do you describe Los Angeles in one word or phrase?

Peter: OK. Sure. I would say, uh, I would say diversity is the main thing about where we live because here in the United States, What does it mean to be American? You know, who is. . . who is American? I think every... I think everybody who lives here, you know, who’s friends with each other is American because, American, that’s... only living here can I meet and be friends with everybody that I’m friends with. And I’m very thankful for that. And that’s why I think this is the best place to live, because you can make friends with everybody, and, you know I’m very thankful for my friends and everybody, and even my wife. Even if I was, you know, before my parents immigrated here, I might have never met her, or my friends. I might have never met them when I was living back in Taiwan, for example. Even though, for example today, I would consider myself nothing but an American.

Interviewer: Hmm. Okay. So, maybe, those who will be watching this video, might be interested in, you know, visiting Los Angeles. [A: Right.] So, could you tell me one good thing about Los Angeles, and also recommend... what do you recommend?

Peter: Well, there’s so many things about Los Angeles and I love Los Angeles so much because I’ve lived here all my life, and there are, there are so many different aspects of it, but it’s, the thing about Los Angeles that’s going to surprise you that’s going to be different from any city is that it’s so large that you can’t get anywhere unless you have a car. So everywhere you drive you have to have a car, because everybody lives in houses – like one, single-storey houses where, to get to one place from another, you have to drive so far. Right? So... but the thing is, the great thing about Los Angeles is that you really see people from all different types of cultures. Everybody who lives in the same city, Los Angeles. But it’s a great place to live, I really think this is where everybody really wants to be. Los Angeles. I think it’s the best city in the world.
